April 10th, 2023--The directors of Rice, Heard & Bigelow (“RHB”) are pleased to announce that fellow director, Sarah M. Allen, has been named as Chair of the Professional Advisors Committee (“PAC”) of the Boston Foundation for Fiscal Year 2023. Sarah is an attorney and joined RHB as a shareholder and director in 2014.
Sarah has served as a member of the PAC since 2021 and was previously a Chair of the Professional Advisors Network (“PAN”) at the same organization. The purpose of the PAC is to serve as a collaborative body of experts – composed of leaders in the allied advisory fields including estate planning, wealth advising, accounting, financial planning, family office services and insurance, among others – who together with Boston Foundation staff advocate for the value of philanthropy and examine innovative mechanisms for high impact charitable planning. Through united expertise, the goal is to identify opportunities to maximize philanthropic impact which benefits client relationships, donor satisfaction and our shared community.
Megan Hathaway Foy, CAP Director, Professional Advisor Relations at The Boston Foundation states, "The PAC plays a crucial role in advising the Boston Foundation on our relationship with donors and advocating for us in the advisor community. We are thrilled to have Sarah's strong leadership to help guide our work with specific strategies and focus areas. She has been an incredible thought partner to us for many years."
Rice, Heard & Bigelow is a firm of private trustees that traces its history to 1782, when it was founded by the financier and historian George Richards Minot. Among the firm’s early accounts was Benjamin Franklin’s legacy to the City of Boston, of which George Minot’s son William served as trustee for 64 years. This tradition of fiduciary duty, prudent investment management, and relationships built on trust and discretion has served generations of families in Massachusetts and beyond for more than 200 years.
